I am an emergency physician based in the Waikato in Aotearoa New Zealand, a busy tertiary referral centre in the middle of a large regional catchment. I have been an EM specialist for over 20 of my over 30 years practicing as a doctor, working mainly in NZ but also in Australia (Alice Springs and Melbourne). I have also branched into telehealth as a way of delivering more equitable healthcare to those in need.

I am a past President of ACEM (the first from Aotearoa NZ) and was extensively involved in EM advocacy in that role and others I held in my 15 years on ACEM committees. I am currently Australasia’s representative on IFEM, the International Federation for Emergency Medicine. A am a passionate advocate of clinician mentorship in Emergency Medicine which drove me to get involved in this endeavour, supporting and lifting the next generation of EM leaders.

Other roles I have held include a past Clinical Director of Waikato Hospital’s ED, A Police Medical Officer and I have held a variety of medical leadership roles at sporting events including rugby (match doctor), Commonwealth Games, mountain-biking world championships amongst others.
