Kate Field
Dr Kate Field is a FACEM working in Hobart, Tasmania, in a private hospital that sees 30-40 patients each day. Her portfolio includes education and training, and she has been developing a training program for registrars in emergency medicine, enabling them to complete some training requirements in the private hospital system. In addition, Kate works 4 days a month in a regional referral hospital in NSW that is also a trauma center.
Kate also has a Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine, has worked extensively in remote parts of Australia, including working as a flying doctor. She spent several years working in the Top End of Australia and has a passion for health equality for all people, particularly Indigenous Australians.
Kate lives on a farm, 40 minutes from Hobart, with her husband, 2 brown dogs, 62 goats (so far, but expecting another 31 very soon), 50 cows (who are calving), 3 chickens and 1 rooster (but not for long). In her spare time, she likes to kitesurf, or if it’s not windy, stand-up paddle surfing (surfing with a paddle), or work on the farm.
