Ian Maconochie

Founder of the Association of Paediatric Emergency Medicine for the UK and Ireland (APEM), and in establishing the curriculum for paediatric emergency training in UK and in Europe (through the European Society of Emergency Medicine, EUSEM).
Past President of the Research arm of APEM, and for the Paediatric Emergency Research Network UK and Ireland (PERUKI). Sat as Chair for TARNlet and completed his tenure as Registrar to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2017 and finished being the Chair of the Paediatric Section, EUSEM in 2017.

He has been a Visiting Professor to Queen Margaret Children’s Hospital in Perth, Australia, an Honorary Associate Professor in the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and Visiting Fellow to the Centre of Reviews and Dissemination, University of York.
Involved in Paediatric resuscitation since 1992 and has been a lead author on guideline work for the European Resuscitation Council on Paediatric Resuscitation, the RC UK paediatric resuscitation guidelines and chaired the paediatric task force of the International Liaison Committee of Resuscitation Councils, currently being Hon Sec Resuscitation Council UK.

Clinical advisor to NHS Children and Young People, and CCIO for West London Children’s Healthcare, a virtual children’s hospital enrolling 3 paediatric hospital services.
He has authored over 250 papers, senior author on the EPALS course and has written numerous books and lectured internationally.
He is Professor of Practice, Paediatric Emergency Medicine at Imperial College, London UK.
